Welcome to our Website, please take some time to look around. Feel free to send us your questions, comments, and insights, even your criticisms, which are always good for growth. Thanks for visiting us, come back again! Our History Pediatric Building Blocks is a practice that specializes in Pediatric and educational occupational therapy. Pediatric Building Blocks was started in 1984, and has been serving families in Alameda County and the surrounding areas, since that time. Director Kelly Loew~Dooley, took over day to day operations in July 1998 and relocated the offices to San Leandro, CA . Our Mission: "Prepare the child for the path, not the path for the child."To provide a quality therapy service that assists the child, as a whole, to achieve the highest level of skills possible within the scope of their cognitive and physical function. To educate and inform the adults involved with these children to improved understanding and acceptance of their unique abilities and challenges. Pediatric Therapy concentrates on the growth and development of children ages 0 to 21 years. As with "building blocks" you can not build a complex structure with out a solid foundation. Before a child walks, they must first learn to crawl, before they write they must first learn to sit up. Pediatric therapists are specialists in developmental delays and learning disabilities, including physical, mental, and emotional impairment. Company ProfileOur staff is a wonderful mix of highly experienced therapists with 20+ years of experience, mid range OT's who have five to ten years in the field, and the fresh new outlook of recent graduates. Pediatric Building Blocks also participates in internship and fieldwork programs from several colleges, and Universities. Pediatric Building Blocks is a certified Non Public Agency (NPA) with the California Department of Education California Special Education which allows us to work with students in public schools. We specialized in "educational occupational therapy", which is much different from a medical or clinical model. Our service to school districts is "on school site" during the school day and is governed by the Dept. of Education, Special Education Local Planning Areas (SELPA's) and the school districts that we contract with. Our certification requires that all therapists have criminal background checks, certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT) and licensure with the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT). Our staff includes certified Sensory Integration Therapists. If you are interested in working with a company like ours check out our announcement page for employment opportunities, we also list available positions with AOTA, Craig's List, and in the Association of Pediatric Therapists (APT) newsletter. Our company maintains a proactive political presence to ensure the quality of service to students, and fair business practice for California OT's.
